Theater Policies

Latecomers: After a performance has started, those patrons arriving late will be admitted into the theatre only at appropriate times specified by and at the discretion of the artists and the House Manager.

Cell phones & personal electronic devices: Turn all personal electronic devices and cell phones to OFF (not to VIBRATE). A cell phone inadvertently left on and ringing/vibrating or a screen lighting up during a performance can disturb your fellow patrons. A lit cell screen will be just as offensive as shining a flashlight at the people around you, so NO TEXTING. Please, turn these devices fully OFF before entering the theatre.

Smoking: NYC law prohibits smoking anywhere within Kumble Theater; LIU Brooklyn has instituted a Smoke Free Campus Program. There is no smoking allowed inside or outside any of the buildings on the campus grounds.

Food, Beverages: No food is allowed into the theatre. Items purchased at vending machines, with the exception of bottled water, may be consumed in the theatre’s Lobby, but food and beverages other than water may not be brought into the theatre.

Parcels, Bags: The Theatre Management reserves the right to require you to open personal bags and knapsacks for inspection as a condition of entry to the theatre. Our Campus Security at its sole discretion may require that some items not be allowed into the theatre.

Recordings, Cameras: The use of any photographic, video, or audio recording devices inside the theater, without written permission of the management, is strictly prohibited. Any such device being used during a performance is subject to confiscation until the end of the performance. The violator will be ejected without refund and could be liable for a variety of legal actions.

Coat Check: We do not provide a Coat Check in our theaters.

Children and Mature Content: Except where noted, Kumble Theater performances are recommended for a general audiences. However, as an advisory to adults who may bring young people, we recommend paying particular attention to any warnings within the description of the event in the event panel on this site. Where appropriate, live performances will carry general advisories as to language and/or sexual content within the description of the event in the show program and also at the theater’s entrance.

Balloons: Balloons are strictly prohibited during all children’s shows and during graduations, they will not be allowed into the theatre and you will only have to forfeit the balloons. We will not hold balloons for you while you are in the theatre. Please purchase balloons only after the event on the way out of the campus grounds.
